Throughout childhood, our bodies are rapidly changing and maturing. This is a critical time for us, as we are still developing cognitively, physically, and emotionally. Health conditions during this time can leave a lasting effect for the entire life. This is why it is crucial to have a Pediatric Care physician that you can count on. Dr. Salcedo possesses years of experience in Family Medicine and Pediatric Care. Our team understands that our minors need superior quality care for their optimal development.
How Often Should a Child See the Doctor?
Pediatric care visits need to happen on a regular basis. Newborns have their first visit between 3 and 5 days after being born. The second visit is typically scheduled when the baby is 1 month old, followed by 2 months, 4 months, 6 months, 9 months, and a year old. After a child’s first birthday visit, they will normally return to the doctor at 15 months, 24 months, 30 months, and 3 years of age. As a child reaches their third birthday, they’ll usually transition into yearly visits. These visits are typically known as “well-child” visits and are much like wellness visits for adults.
What Happens During a Well Child Visit?
A well-child visit is a time for the doctor to check in with their young patient. The doctor will evaluate their health as a whole and will discuss milestones and health concerns with the child’s parents at this time. Parents can bring up concerns and questions which may the doctor identify emerging issues. Overall, a well-child visit is an excellent way to help parents keep their kids as healthy and happy as possible.
Do Children Really Need to Have Vaccinations?
Vaccinations are highly recommended. Vaccines can prevent a number of serious and possibly fatal diseases and health problems. The Centers For Disease Control And Prevention has a specific recommended vaccination schedule. The physician follows the recommended schedule except in unusual health situations. Vaccinations can prevent children from suffering from diseases like mumps, measles, chickenpox, flu, and hepatitis, along with many others.
