How Does Laser Hair Removal Work?

Cynosure®’s laser hair removal treatments work by actually targeting the very hair cells in the area. The laser has the ability to penetrate below the surface of the skin and create energy which, over time, damages the hair follicles, preventing regrowth. The surrounding skin is unharmed, and the target area becomes smoother and hair-free.

Because hair grows in a number of stages, we want to ensure we treat all the hair follicles in every stage (all our hair is never in the same stage of regrowth). As such, with each treatment, we cannot simply get every hair follicle in the optimal stage. Therefore, we recommend a series of treatments for the best results.

Generally, after 6 treatments clients notice a change in hair regrowth.

What To Expect

Common treatment areas include the face, underarms, legs, bikini area, back, and chest. However, the laser is safe to use in most areas.

Our patients can expect to feel at ease. The laser itself doesn’t hurt, in fact, most clients describe it has slightly warm and painless. We do ensure that our patients are comfortable and, if needed, we use a cooling gel to prevent discomfort.

After the treatment, our patients are able to return to their daily activities. We recommend not exposing the newly treated area directly to sunlight or hot water right after.
